We've added all the details of nursery and preschools in Danderyd here and we'll be collecting reviews over the next few months to help parents make their childcare choices. International preschools such as Imagination International are included alongside local commune preschools like Kornvägen Förskola and Montessori schools such as Trappgränds Förskola. Please do get in touch if you have a comment or review to add!

Some of us are here, some of us are away. I love Danderyd at this time of year because there is so little traffic and all the wonderful gardens have come to life. A few people have asked me which of our local restaurants and cafes are open through the summer. In order to answer properly, we did some research and came up with this fab list of what is open and who is on a well-deserved break! Please let us know if we've missed anywhere.
Where will you see in the spring in Danderyd on Thursday 30th April 2015? Coffee, hotdogs, sweets and a lottery. 7.30pm at GermaniaparkenMusic from Danderyds blåsorkester, tourch lights by Djursholms Scouts, spring speeches, singing and the bonfire. 8.30pm at SvanholmsparkenBonfire, singing and speeches. 9pm at Djursholms-EkebyBonfire and fireworks in the meadow alongside Kolgavägen.
If you’re looking for a place to ice skate or would like to take lessons, Djursholms Allmänna Skridskoklubb (DASK) offers a wonderful outdoor rink for both children and adults. Open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, from 12:00-14:00, you can bring your own gear and go for a spin. Or if you’d prefer lessons, check the website for times. Lessons are offered in English to children on Thursdays at 17:00, groups starting at age 4 years and up. The kids are divided according to age and skill level, and not to worry, there are plenty of teachers on hand to help with beginners. Group practices are outdoors so dress warm! It’s important to note: helmets are a must and skaters need to bring their own skates. Skates are available to rent but you’ll need to make an appointment for a fitting. I found the best way to contact DASK is to email dask@telia.com. Do expect a few days wait time before they respond. They don’t have someone in the office everyday and it will take time for them to contact you. Or show up at the class and get the information directly from them, sometimes this is easier. For private lessons, you can email requesting a teacher or talk to them directly at the rink. Private lessons are scheduled during the open public skating time on weekends and prices depend on the individual teachers. Unfortunately, the rink closes on March 6th so if you want to skate you better race over before the ice melts! Guest post by Lana Wimmer. Check out Lana's perspectives on life and parenting from across the globe on her blog: sparechangeblog.me We listened to Danderyds Blåsorkester while eating ice creams and sitting in Cedergrenska parken on a lovely sunny afternoon. Where did you spend 6 June this year? Danderyd libraries have their own blog now. They use it to post news about the library events but also to review new books, including English ones - with reviews in English too. Worth checking out if you like reading. http://danderydsbibliotek.blogspot.se/
