Danderyd is home to many artists, writers, musicians, singers, artists and the culture week aims to draw attention to all the diverse cultural activities that take place in the community and, not least, a great cultural heritage that promotes artistic activities.
More than 40 cultural organisations and 60 artists are involved with various programs during the week. The different municipal districts in Danderyd have many examples of interesting architecture, including some of the most interesting residential areas. It has everything, from large to small and from every age, from Danderyd Church, Djursholms Slott, Enebybergs Farm, Nora Farm, Cedergrenska Tower, Villa Tallom, Villa Snellman and Lindensteinska "Tornvillan" Art Nouveau villas and Bauhaus-style building, the recent landmark buildings as Danderyd Hospital, Balderskolan and the so-called concrete villa, designed by Lola Geisendorff. It's all around us and is well worth the attention.
Behind the culture week is a group of nine non-profit organisations and the Swedish Church in Danderyd with the support of Danderyd Kommun.
To avoid clashing events, one weekend is devoted Danderyd and Enebyberg, the other to Stocksund and Djursholm and, during the week in between, events are intermingled.
The vision for the culture week is that the whole of Danderyd is involved in cultural activities in the broad sense and with the voluntary sector as the base. A starting point is Danderyd and its detached urban history, development and future. The cutlure week aims to illustrate the breadth of the cultural life and creating solidarity and shared experiences. The organisers want to show our municipality as a place not only for living and recreation but also for community development, creativity, initiative and an active club.
The event is intended to involve all residents in Danderyd. It caters to fans of all ages and members of our associations who want to participate and anyone who wants to contribute to the culture week - a new and valued tradition in Danderyd!
