En utsträckt hand - Täby & Danderyd (literally, an out-stretched hand) is our wonderful local association that helps to take care of newly-arrived residents of Täby and Danderyd. Those at Täby Park Hotell and those who have recently been allocated accommodation are supported by the association to help them get started in their new life here. Those at Pärlans are looked after by Flyktingstöd Stockholm Nordost. En utsträckt hand focuses on: 1. Material needs such as furniture and clothes. To help with this, contact mobler@enutstrackthand.se 2. Social activities and 'buddying', including things like running/walking groups: contact social@enutstrackthand.se or fadder@enutstrackthand.se 3. Communication with the kommunes, authorities and other organisations. Contact kommun@enutstrackthand.se
The meeting's agenda will be:
11am - Presentation from the association's board about the work they are doing and three projects starting up now: * An integration project between Täby and Danderyds councils and Kulturskolan Danderyd relating to music. * Kulturskolan Täby /Ung teater is interested in starting a theatre/drama group for new arrivals. * Jogging and walking groups in Enta Park, to include those residing at Täby Park Hotell. 11:20 - Time for questions 11:30-2pm - Group discussions around areas of interest and experience. This newly formed association wants to hear your ideas and thoughts! More information about the event can be found here on Facebook (in Swedish). Email them if you want to chat about their work in English. Do we work from home when taking care of sick little ones instead of claiming social security benefit....known as 'vabbing'? Or are Danderyd's children healthier than those in the rest of the country?
New analysis out this week shows that Danderyd parents claim the least benefits for taking care of sick children - just a quarter of the amount the highest claiming area gets. I wonder if it isn't a bit of both reasons. What do you think? More details (in Swedish) from SVT here. Our local shopping centre, Enebyängen, is getting a real boost this summer - Ikea is moving in! However, it won't be an ordinary store, it is called 'Ikea Service och Pick up', will be just 20% of the size of a normal shop and customers can pick up online orders there day...and night. The showroom will be home to kitchen, wardrobing and bathroom planning services, furniture to try out and around 100 small items you can buy and take home directly.
This is the first store in this concept to open in Sweden but there others across Europe. The kommun is very happy to have the company open here. |
