Local newspaper Mitt i Danderyd recently reported that Ulf Durling, a crime fiction writer and now-retired psychiatrist (who worked for 40 years at Danderyd Sjukhus), has made a US top-10 book list after his first novel was translated into English last year. That was his first novel...of sixteen...and over 100 short stories. It was first published in 1971 and titled 'Gammal Ost' in Swedish.
Called 'Hard Cheese' by the translator, the murder mystery is set in a small Swedish town and is up to a cheese-loving local doctor to solve the case! Ulf Durling now tours Sweden giving lectures on the benefits of reading about murder. Worth bedtime reading? Let us know what you think. |
