Upstage Productions will be back at BISS this Summer for another week of Musical Theatre fun! The course will run from July 27th to July 31st and is suitable for 7 to 14 year olds.
The week will be as fun as last year ending with another great show. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, strict attention will be placed on remaining safe and respectful to other people's space. The audience will be respectfully positioned. Numbers onto the course will be limited and so booking a place soon is encouraged. Packed-lunches will be required and breaks will be spent outside. Hand sanitizers will be provided and the rooms designated for our use will be cleaned and aired throughout. We as a team have no health issues and have had no contact with anyone with the virus. We want to make this course an exciting and fun-filled experience serving as a creative distraction from the recent lockdown we have all had to endure. Each day will start at 10am and finish at 3pm with the show at 2pm on the Friday. We will be based at the Ekeby site and the cost of the course is 2334 SEK. To book a place, please contact Thomas Kett at Upstage Productions on [email protected]. More info about the company can be found here: www.upstagemusicalproductions.com You can imagine that there are plenty of places to swim in and around Danderyd! Here is a map and information from the council about the places to swim out from: https://www.danderyd.se/uppleva-och-gora/idrott-motion-och-friluftsliv/friluftsliv-och-motion/badplatser/ You can check out the water quality here: https://www.havochvatten.se/hav/fiske--fritid/badvatten/kommuner-och-badplatser/kommuner/badplatser-i-danderyds-kommun.html A bit of Googling tells us that you should have a wetsuit to swim out in open water, which certainly sounds sensible this far north! Local business update Just up the road in Täby, you can buy the Orca brand of wetsuits from Venkanto and their website and webshop works in English: www.venkanto.com . Enebyberg-based Susanna and Peter Dörlich run Venkanto. They are agents for the New Zealand Orca brand across Scandinavia and the Balkans and, unsurprisingly, love open-water swimming themselves. Susanna explains: “Swimming in open water is a little bit of an adventure, which we think many people would like.” The company was lucky to have received their main shipment of wetsuits before boarders closed. Now they hope people will want to try swimming in our beautiful lakes and seas and even try events like Swim-Run.
If you have had a go or are a big fan of open-water swimming and want to share some photos with us, please send them over or share them to us on Facebook! Small business update Linda Lilja runs Lilja Deco AB in Stocksund after a career in the media branch. As a certified interior designer and home-styling consultant, she works with both home interior décor projects and styling of properties before they are put up for sale. Everyone wants to feel comfortable in their own home and many are interested in home décor. It can be difficult to pull everything together for a project, whether it is a whole house renovation or the redecoration of one room. Creating a comfortable, functional home with the right mix of colours, lighting, furniture and textiles requires experience but mostly time, which many people don’t have much of today. Linda says: ”Right now I see that, because of Covid-19, there are very few home-styling projects. I guess that people don’t feel like or are waiting to sell their property.” Hiring an interior designer who can take care of all those elements can be a good investment in both time and money, helping you avoid expensive purchases that don’t fit and keeping you clear of the shops at the weekend. ”I think a change is coming - I can imagine that many people currently stuck in at home are beginning to think about how their home works for them. Clearing, cleaning, reorganising the furniture and gardening. It is in these areas that I can help the most.” To make both interior design projects and home-styling work right now, Linda has come up with some ideas:
Now Linda is looking forward to Danderyd residents trying out these ideas! You can find Linda’s website and contact information at: https://liljadeco.se/ If you are also a female business owner based in Danderyd, check out the women’s business network Nätverqet Danderyd which meets once a month in both Swedish and English. Lilja Deco is part of Nätverqet and has support from local marketing agency Write in Danderyd for this piece. Local school update The wonderful parent-run Svea Montessori nursery school in Djursholm has space for one or two small children coming up. The school takes around 30 children in total across two groups, children age 1-3 in one group and 4-6 year-olds and is situated behind Djursholms Delikatesser. There are a couple of spaces available for children born in 2018 and 2019. The förskola is run by the parents and has slightly shorter opening hours than the council nursery schools have. If you are a parent that likes to get involved, you can!
Find out more here: https://www.sveamontessori.se/sveamontessori/extern/ or contact the school directly: [email protected] Local business update Jenny Hermelin from Djursholm Yoga has recorded a yoga routine for us to do at home after requests from English-speaking members. You can find it on their YouTube channel and by clicking below: Gillian Florence Sanger has also recorded a guided meditation for grounding and balancing, also in English: Local business update Local importer of biodynamic wines in Sweden, BRASRI, work with small-scale winemakers who have great respect for nature and good practices.
